Bianca believes wholeheartedly in DIY publishing. Making zines for the last 17 years she enjoys sharing her knowledge, skills, experiences and passion with others. She recently facilitated zine workshops as part of the Museum of Brisbane’s The Stoke – A History of Brisbane Skateboarding exhibition program.
At the end of 2010 Bianca founded Brisbane-based zine co-op the Paper Cuts Collective (dedicated to strengthening the QLD zine and independent publishing community and beyond, striving to promote diverse DIY created works and providing networking opportunities for zine makers & lovers to help strengthen channels of communication) with fellow zine comrades Jeremy Staples and Matthew Limmer. Bianca also launched her 6-years-in-the-making limited edition zine series, Conversations with Punx: A Spiritual Dialogue – a collection of in-depth, thoughtful conversations with members of the worldwide punk and hardcore community (Henry Rollins, Ian MacKaye, Ari Up, Don Letts, Exene Cervenka…) sharing thoughts, ideas and experiences of spirituality, creativity, the beauty of music and of building community. In 2011 the project will be published as a book and sister project, Hip Hop Insight – exploring similar themes within the hip hop community – will be released. Her first interview for the project was with Questlove of the legendary Roots crew.
Bianca has written for Brisbane street press Rave Magazine for almost 14 years and been published in Rolling Stone, Blunt, Australian Hysteria and, many more publications both in print and online. She has been told by editors her work is “too deep” - whatever that means? Yet many bands interviewed have commented that talking to Bianca is like "talking to Oprah" and have invited her to write and send positive affirmations to assist them while on tour. Currently she is most enjoying writing for
