UnConvention Brisbane Announces Free All Ages Showcase
UnConvention Brisbane will showcase some of Brisbane's most exciting independent music at a free all-ages concert held at The Edge on Saturday June 12 from 6pm.
The showcase will feature hip-hop/roots collective Laneous and the Family Yah, folk act Lion Island, electronic pop trio Hunz, and indie rock band The Cairos.
This eclectic mix was chosen to represent the variety and depth of talent fostered by Brisbane's independent music scene.
Showcase acts were selected by a committee of UnConvention organisers in consultation with other stakeholders and presented to Jesse Barbera of Fans group (who also manages the Cairos) to book the event.
"The showcase is really about modeling the UnConvention ethos of 'Do It Together'", Jesse Barbera said. "We wanted to put together a strong lineup that demonstrates local independent live music is a viable proposition for promoters and venues, particularly if they're willing to work with innovative grass-roots acts and build up the local scene".
Held 12-13 June 2010 at The Edge in Brisbane’s South Bank precinct, the weekend event will comprise five daytime panel discussions focussed around creating sustainable careers within the music industry. Access to both days costs $20, and tickets are available via OzTix. The independent artist showcase on Saturday June 12 is free, all-ages, and open to the public from 6pm.
